From me at the-compiler.org Tue Sep 12 23:50:24 2017 From: me at the-compiler.org (Florian Bruhin) Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2017 23:50:24 +0200 Subject: [qutebrowser-announce] The qutebrowser config revolution continues! Message-ID: <20170912215024.jjukuue2k2itznsg@hooch.localdomain> Hey! I finished my exams (all went well!) and I'm back from my holidays in Budapest, so the work on the new config will (finally) continue! The next three days I'll work on it full-time again, and unfortunately 20 of 20 days are over after that... However, I'll make sure the new-config branch is merged as soon as possible, and there really isn't much in the way anymore. This also means that when you're using the git master branch of qutebrowser, you're in for a bumpy ride: - The new config will get in hopefully somewhen this week, requiring you to reconfigure your qutebrowser from scratch. - Shortly after that, I intend to drop support for Qt < 5.7.1, Python < 3.5 and legacy QtWebKit (before 5.212), which might make it harder for you to get qutebrowser to run (depending on your distribution). - Soon-ish, I'll most likely flip the switch for QtWebEngine by default on Linux. In other words, you might want to switch to the v0.11.0 release if you want things to be a bit more quiet ;-) Florian -- https://www.qutebrowser.org | me at the-compiler.org (Mail/XMPP) GPG: 916E B0C8 FD55 A072 | https://the-compiler.org/pubkey.asc I love long mails! | https://email.is-not-s.ms/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <20170928185728.n74h4pr57drdksi7@hooch.localdomain> Hey, just a quick update to let you know that the last one of four big changes is now done: - [x] The new completion, based on sqlite - [x] The new config system - [x] Dropping legacy support - [x] Making QtWebEngine the default backend If QtWebEngine can't be used on your system for some reason, you'll get a message about it. If it can, it'll automatically use that unless you set the "backend" setting to "webkit". I still hope to get v1.0.0 with all this out in mid-November, before Firefox 57 is released - if possible, with some initial form of per-domain settings! If you find any issues or need help, please let me know! Florian PS: If you're getting those mails twice, it's because you're subscribed to both qutebrowser@ and qutebrowser-announce at . You should only subscribe to one of those, the difference is that qutebrowser@ is open to the public for questions and such. -- https://www.qutebrowser.org | me at the-compiler.org (Mail/XMPP) GPG: 916E B0C8 FD55 A072 | https://the-compiler.org/pubkey.asc I love long mails! | https://email.is-not-s.ms/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
