Auto detection of INSERT mode doesn't work for gmail's chat. Everytime need to manually press "I" key to set to insert mode to use gmail chat. Also if I use gmail to write a new mail, I switch to other window. Then comeback, the insert mode is gone. There is no memory on a tab's insert mode after switching. And forgetting about the insert mode is really destructive, since each key is powerful. This problem happens also when I edit an email in gmail, just click the mouse to insert text in other position of the email, then the "insert" mode is gone. That's probably because google uses various kind-of-text HTML elements but not what would actually be a text box. This issue is somewhat related: https://github.com/qutebrowser/qutebrowser/issues/2668 > Also if I use gmail to write a new mail, I switch to other window. Then > comeback, the insert mode is gone. You can set the tabs.persist_mode_on_change setting to true. To add to The-Compiler's message, you can also set gmail to use a basic HTML view, which works fine with the auto insert key, since it uses a normal textbox there. The easiest way to enable it is to disable javascript (as they hide it a bit in the menus), via content.javascript.enabled. -Jay From littlechuan at gmail.com Thu Feb 8 05:21:20 2018 From: littlechuan at gmail.com (Terry Xie) Date: Wed, 7 Feb 2018 20:21:20 -0800 Subject: [qutebrowser] Some proposals to the browser In-Reply-To: <87r2pwno9o.fsf@gmail.com> References: <87r2pwno9o.fsf@gmail.com> Message-ID: Hi Jay, Thanks for your idea, but that means the google chat cannot be used though if simple mode is used. You'll need to get QtWebEngine or a new QtWebKit from somewhere, but there are ARM distributions (Raspbian Stretch and Archlinux ARM from the top of my head) which provide that. So yeah, you'll really need to be more specific on what you mean with "the arm 7 issue" ;-) Florian -- https://www.qutebrowser.org | me at the-compiler.org (Mail/XMPP) GPG: 916E B0C8 FD55 A072 | https://the-compiler.org/pubkey.asc I love long mails! | https://email.is-not-s.ms/ -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I am within the student group (KTH) who is working on issue #3020. Well, I tried to do some tests with tox and I get an error which says that the QtWebEngine is not set properly. I can run the main tool without any problems, but I get the error that I have to change the backend engine to the QtWebEngine in the config.py file, but I cant find the respective entry. How can I set it up? I attached the error output, which I get when I try to run "sudo tox -e py36 -- tests/end2end/features/test_backforward_bdd.py" in the terminal. I would like to stick with QtWebEngine. By the way, you are from Switzerland? I speak German as well, so feel free to answer in German! Hmm, that error message is a bit unfortunate. Those end-to-end tests work by running qutebrowser in a subprocess, so you get the error output of that qutebrowser instance. It's using a temporary config though, so changing your config.py won't actually help. qutebrowser supports two backends, QtWebKit and QtWebEngine, with QtWebEngine being the default for "normal" runs. However, the testsuite runs with QtWebKit by default as that's much faster for the kind of workload the tests are. Ideally the tests would realize that and fall back to running with QtWebEngine, as documented in this issue: https://github.com/qutebrowser/qutebrowser/issues/3051 There are three things you can do instead: - Install QtWebKit to run the tests with that. - Add "--qute-bdd-webengine" after the "--" (or after your test path) to force the tests to use QtWebEngine. - Do "tox -e py36-pyqt59" instead, which will download a pre-built PyQt from PyPI (Python's package index) and run the tests with QtWebEngine. > which I get when I try to run > > "sudo tox -e py36 -- tests/end2end/features/test_backforward_bdd.py" Why are you running tox with sudo? You probably shouldn't. > By the way, you are from Switzerland? I speak German as well, so feel > free to answer in German! Indeed! Message-ID: <20180214153913.GH3158@umw.edu> Hi, does anyone know if there is a way to get qutebrowser to work with standalone Zotero? In Firefox and Chrome, I've been able to get a plugin-type deal where if you're on a website that has an academic citation, it can automatically find it, parse it, and create a Zotero item for it. I wonder if the same thing can be done in Zotero. I found this: github.com/parchd-1/qutebrowser-zotero but the script appears to expect something to be listening to local port 23119, and I don't know how to start such a thing. - Stephen Davies, Ph.D. (stephen at umw.edu) From me at the-compiler.org Wed Feb 14 17:31:02 2018 From: me at the-compiler.org (Florian Bruhin) Date: Wed, 14 Feb 2018 17:31:02 +0100 Subject: [qutebrowser] Zotero support? I can only guess with that little information on what's going on... In general, version information (:version) is very helpful for such questions. YouTube: How did you install qutebrowser? If you installed it via 'tox', or used the Windows/macOS builds, those come with a build of Qt without proprietary codecs support. Not much you can do other than getting Qt from somewhere else instead. Protonmail: Are you in insert mode (i)? What exactly happens when you type? Poker site: No clue. Can you also try whether those things work when you start with --temp-basedir? > youtube video qutebrowser consumed approx 200 mb more as conkeror Possible. Memory is hard to measure accurately anyways.
